THE BLUE LIGHT PLAYERS ARE PROUD TO PRESENT
** COVID-19 RELATED UPDATE **
Dear Friends of the Blue Light Players:
The coronavirus pandemic has changed the way all of us are going about our daily lives. This is an unprecedented situation and we are trying to adjust to the “new normal” brought about by the need to limit the spread of disease by social distancing. We must all do our part to “flatten the curve” and that includes makes hard decisions about activities we have looked forward to for months.
It is with heavy hearts that we must announce the postponement of the Blue Light Players’ 2020 production of Roald Dahl’s Matilda: The Musical. With the closure of Michigan schools through the end of the school year, we are unable to perform Matilda as scheduled (April 23-26). It is not possible to reschedule the production, as all schools will be closed through the end of the academic year, and possibly all summer long for public events and performances like ours. We want our cast, crew, and audience members to be safe, and postponing the show is the best way to do that. If you have already purchased tickets to Matilda: The Musical, you will receive a refund. We know that many people are struggling financially now, and we want to return our patrons’ money in a timely manner. That said, please give our ticketing company time to process your refund, as they are dealing with show cancellations nationwide.
When we are able to reschedule our production, we hope everyone will buy tickets at that time. We appreciate everyone’s support and regret that we had to make this decision. It was not made lightly. We are an organization that strives to give back to the community, but for now, that means limiting our community interactions to online, virtual exchanges. We are all in this together, with the hope that soon, we can once again be together as a community theatre family.
With much love,
The Blue Light Players
